For my home coming I chose
pink and purple as our wedding theme and carried it all through all our wedding
details with of course, a bit of humour! Although pink and purple are
considered as common colours they have a somewhat strong and deep emotional
influence to me so, I had to use them somewhere! If not it wouldn’t have felt
right! lol
The Invitation
Unlike the formal
invitations I wanted to mix things up a bit and inject a little fun in to my
home coming invitation, make my guests feel less stressful and give them a
great laugh when they receive it. So I decided to draw an illustration of
myself and my fiancé. Which turned out to look like this!
The Home coming cake
Since my fiancé’s nick name
is ‘Ibba’ (meaning tortoise) I’ve been thinking of ways to incorporate ibba’s
in to my homecoming and finally figured that it’d be a cute idea to get the
cake made with icing tortoise cake toppers in pink and purple.
Home coming saree
I know that the red saris
have become the traditional garment choice for most homecomings in Sri Lanka,
but I was very
eager to wear pink for this function and obviously my clothes had to flow with
my theme. Although, I had no right to decide on that, as it’s a custom in
Buddhist weddings for the groom to present the homecoming sari to the bride, my
fiancé, just being his nice self let me decide on the colours of my sari as
long as it’s not one of those colours that bring bad luck. (Yes! Call us superstitious!) lol And Yay! I found my pink! :D
