Laced and Laser Cut

Didn’t necessarily mean to connect any of this with fashion but, it's just how I saw all this as a connection to what I was talking about before! :D So after seeing the nice motif cut works on the lanterns I remembered valentino’s spring 2012 and Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2012 collections. The whole application of lacer cut techniques on these fabrics were cleverly plus beautifully done. So I had to share it! :D

Laser cut! Why not this spring summer? :)
Valentino Spring 2012- Loved the whole refined yet whimsical feel of the dresses.

Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012. Looked like a lantern itself! :D Beautiful!

Fashion icon Kate Moss in a lace and feathered dress accompanied with ladylike shoes and a plain cutesy hairband to match the ultra girly white dress, wrapped the show at Louis Vuitton’s SS12 runway.

Now I'm actually wondering what Louis vuitton's and Valentino's source of inspiration was for this spring summer 2012. :)

Here's another image of a lacer cut dress from Marchesa. I love the way it's folded and twisted around. :)

A Night of Light!

Off we were to the streets with the gang, on Vesak poya night to go in search of beautifully decorated streets in Colombo and it sure was extraordinarily put together this time I thought! :) The lighting, the lanterns, the pandols and the 3d projection mapping at the museum was just outstandingly beautiful! Oh and the neon lit toys :D Tee hee! For a moment it felt like I was in one of those Chinese lantern and Japanese Tanabata festivals.
The 2012 spirit of Vesak was sure intense! :)
Full moon :)
The reflection of  lights on water

The pics were taken during my first trip around Nawam mawatha but it was more beautiful when I made the next trip around the city but unfortunately I didn't have the cam with me then. So yeah! :(  However, I still thought these were amazing too. :)

Lanterns

The lanterns were beautifully designed and intricately carved as always. I dunno if they were lacer cut or hand done..whatever it is, it looked really nice. This can actually be an inspiration for a good lacer cut collection with Sri Lankan motifs I thought! :) My next post would be on certain designers who have done fabulous collections for spring/summer 2012 which has lacer cut pieces that kind of resemble the carvings of these lanterns. :)

These are just some images of the lanterns we were able to capture but of course, there were nicer one's too. :)

Pandols

The multi coloured sparkling mini bulbs of massive pandols. Beautiful and always has a story to tell.
Special effects- I said pour me some light! :D

It was also fun blending with the massive crowd wearing neon coloured horns over our heads. It was crazy like!

The neon horns :D
