Day 2- Photo shoot (Random shots)

This photo shoot session was more of a mix of different concepts all together. I wanted to include some of my Samurai warrior inspired outfits and incorporate a dark and moody warrior kind of feel, as the outfits itself were more on to an avant-garde side I would say. Then came the Russian bride to bring out a dreamy vibe and then slightly an Arabian touch to a playful youngling kind of look.
It’s actually funny how an initial concept for a photo shoot can change so wildly interesting with the help of professional photographers and different mind sets as a result to what you finally end up putting together. However I loved the way the fashion turned out in each of these outfits and I loved the pics! Waiting for them to be up soon. I was just totally playing around and improvising with the props, accessories and the little pieces of cloth I had designed and forgotten all about. So it was more like a reunification of all my collections except for just one outfit that was newly designed for a show in July which will not be shown right now but in the future. :)

So wait up for the real pics by Chamil, till then to keep you all updated have a go at these. :)

The shoot took place at my neighbours premises which I thought was ideal when it came to quick changes of concepts. There were rustic areas and they had such cool furniture specially designed out of crisp wood I’m guessing, that had a damaged wood texture to it, but looked absolutely unique and beautiful. The interior was more like a mix of antiques and multi coloured couches with cushions which I thought looked really nice and cool. :)
Everything went really well and smooth during the shoot. My model looked stunning as always! The hair and makeup looked great, and the weather was just perfect. :) So here I am thanking each and everyone again that helped me with this shoot. Arunika, Chamil, Chintha from Capello salon, Indika akki, Kami's mom and my loving neighbours! My parents! Dhanushka! Thank you all! Don't forget to checkout the Model magazine (Next issue) for the pics of my previous shoot.

Laced and Laser Cut

Didn’t necessarily mean to connect any of this with fashion but, it's just how I saw all this as a connection to what I was talking about before! :D So after seeing the nice motif cut works on the lanterns I remembered valentino’s spring 2012 and Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2012 collections. The whole application of lacer cut techniques on these fabrics were cleverly plus beautifully done. So I had to share it! :D

Laser cut! Why not this spring summer? :)
Valentino Spring 2012- Loved the whole refined yet whimsical feel of the dresses.

Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012. Looked like a lantern itself! :D Beautiful!

Fashion icon Kate Moss in a lace and feathered dress accompanied with ladylike shoes and a plain cutesy hairband to match the ultra girly white dress, wrapped the show at Louis Vuitton’s SS12 runway.

Now I'm actually wondering what Louis vuitton's and Valentino's source of inspiration was for this spring summer 2012. :)

Here's another image of a lacer cut dress from Marchesa. I love the way it's folded and twisted around. :)

A Night of Light!

Off we were to the streets with the gang, on Vesak poya night to go in search of beautifully decorated streets in Colombo and it sure was extraordinarily put together this time I thought! :) The lighting, the lanterns, the pandols and the 3d projection mapping at the museum was just outstandingly beautiful! Oh and the neon lit toys :D Tee hee! For a moment it felt like I was in one of those Chinese lantern and Japanese Tanabata festivals.
The 2012 spirit of Vesak was sure intense! :)
Full moon :)
The reflection of  lights on water

The pics were taken during my first trip around Nawam mawatha but it was more beautiful when I made the next trip around the city but unfortunately I didn't have the cam with me then. So yeah! :(  However, I still thought these were amazing too. :)

Lanterns

The lanterns were beautifully designed and intricately carved as always. I dunno if they were lacer cut or hand done..whatever it is, it looked really nice. This can actually be an inspiration for a good lacer cut collection with Sri Lankan motifs I thought! :) My next post would be on certain designers who have done fabulous collections for spring/summer 2012 which has lacer cut pieces that kind of resemble the carvings of these lanterns. :)

These are just some images of the lanterns we were able to capture but of course, there were nicer one's too. :)

Pandols

The multi coloured sparkling mini bulbs of massive pandols. Beautiful and always has a story to tell.
Special effects- I said pour me some light! :D

It was also fun blending with the massive crowd wearing neon coloured horns over our heads. It was crazy like!

The neon horns :D

Macro to Fashion

Surprisingly, it seemed like a part of London Fashion Week 2012 was also inspired by insects. What a coincidence! Read my previous post to see what I mean! :) Here are some images of Golan Frydman's designs for London Fashion Week 2012. He has tried to depict how insects transform themselves as a form of protection in his collection. One of the designs apparently took the idea of changing the cocoon into a butterfly too.
Groovy eh!?

Avant-guard to wearable

Here are some other images of some designs I found with an insect like appeal applied on to the garments as prints.
